New Transportation Coordinator Position to Support World Camp families

Many families have expressed interest in receiving support with transportation to and/or from camp. While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to help every family, we will have someone coordinating these requests so that we can help as many families as we can. 

How it works

When registering for World Camp this year, families can indicate whether they would like assistance with their child’s transportation. If you check any of the three options available (join carpool list, interest in morning bus route, interest in evening bus route) at the time of registration, our Transportation Coordinator will reach out to you directly to start exploring the options available.

The coordinator will work with each interested family to explore the best available solutions, which may include:

  • Facilitating Carpool opportunities

  • Organizing bus routes when sufficient interest

  • Planning for Supervised Metra rides

Our goal is to support families whenever possible, find cost-effective options, and reduce the environmental impact of daily camp transportation. We do not guarantee success, and families remain responsible for arranging transportation to camp for their children. We just think that we can offer a better option for who register for World Camp should be able to arrange for their child's transportation  

Timeline

Families who indicate interest during registration will be contacted after registration, and in April to finalize their transportation plans for the summer. In addition to planning from April to June, the transportation coordinator will also be available on-site throughout the summer to help implement those plans.  

We are excited to offer this support and look forward to working with families to create sustainable and accessible transportation solutions for all campers.
