Policies

Each camp is headed by a teacher or an educator selected for their professionalism, experience and creativity. Our team includes certified Lycee teachers and assistant teachers, teachers from other institutions as well as qualified camp counselors and educators who have gained experience working with children in our after-school or other programs.

Allergies, chronic conditions and any condition requiring the establishment of a Health management plan MUST be reported to our health office and the proper documentation must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of your child's first camp session. 

Our nurses are available to meet in person should you want to discuss your child’s condition or needs directly with us.

Emergency information is filled online at the time of registration; No additional paper version is needed. Use the registration form to do any initial report as needed.

Language immersion camps for ages 3-11: Campers will walk to parks or sports facilities located in the neighborhood. They will also attend Field Trips on Tuesdays and Fridays. Tuesday field trips include a visit to the Hidden Creek Water Park every session, and a visit to a farm, a museum or a botanic garden the other two Tuesdays. Fridays are beach days with BBQ for all. 

Investigative Learning camps (ages 11-15): Campers will participate in 4 to 5 field trips weekly, including the Tuesday and Friday field trips with all campers, and 2 to 3 half-day field trips on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in relation with the theme of their camp session. 

Children enrolled in our program are expected to be polite, to show respect at all times to their fellow campers, counselors, and other camp or school personnel, and to respect the property of others and the school. Campers are not to leave the building on their own, and they are expected to be with their assigned camp groups at all times. The same etiquette and rules of politeness apply to potential online camps or activities. Lycée Français reserves the right to deny any camper the opportunity to participate in camp if the child social conduct or behavior is deemed unsatisfactory by the school administration.

LFC rules govern the use of IT Tools for all school and camp programming. Any breach of the rules will be treated according to the nature of the offense. Camp participants must understand and respect the LFC rules for use of IT tools.

• Camp participants will use technology with approval and according to teacher guidelines.
• Camp participants do not change configuration of any equipment or accounts belonging to LFC.
• Camp participants do not share passwords and do not access other people’s documents without permission.
• Camp participants do not take photographs, video or audio recordings without the explicit permission of a teacher.
• Camp participants do not communicate personal information online or publish material on public sites without teacher approval.

All registrants are charged a 10% non-refundable deposit at the time of registration. Registrants agree to the following payment: 50% of remaining balance charged on March 15, and full remaining balance charged on May 1st. These charges are non-refundable.

Registrants are authorizing the Lycée Français to charge their credit card or the alternate mode of payment that they have approved at the time of registration. These charges are non-refundable.

Your payment plan uses your credit card on file. If you would like to pay by check instead, please send your checks made payable to Lycée Francais de Chicago and mailed to the attention of Jacques Fournier, Lycée Francais de Chicago, 1929 West Wilson Avenue, Chicago, IL 60640, prior to each deadline. 

LFC reserve the right to cancel its programs without refunds in case of a Force majeure event of unforeseeable nature and catastrophic consequences, such as acts of God, severe acts of nature or weather events including floods, fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, or explosions; war, acts of terrorism, and epidemics; acts of governmental authorities such as expropriation, condemnation, and changes in laws and regulations; strikes and labor disputes; and certain accidents. 

We reserve the right to cancel a program before its start due to lack of registrations or other circumstances. Notification of cancellation of a program will be done as early as possible. Program fees will be refunded in full in this situation.

Should World Camp need to cancel programming for more than one day, during an already in-progress camp program, a prorated fee will be refunded for the unused camp days when World Camp is closed. 

In case of a camper/student withdrawal from the program, Lycée Français must be notified in writing or by email addressed to jfournier@lyceechicago.org.

• Withdrawal before March 15: Deposit of 10% is non-refundable. A 5% cancelation fee will apply to any amount refunded beyond the initial 10% non-refundable fee.
• Cancelation between March 15 and April 30: 50% of full tuition is non-refundable.  A 5% cancelation fee will apply to any amount refunded beyond the initial 50% non-refundable fee.
• Cancelation on or after May 1st: No refund will be issued. 

No refunds will be made to a camper/student who is asked to leave the program for disciplinary reasons.

Individual absences from camp – for personal, medical or any other reasons - are non-refundable. 

In the event of a medical emergency occurring to my child (or ward), I hereby authorize the Lycée Français de Chicago to act in loco parentis to my child (or ward). The school may authorize all necessary medical and/or surgical procedures that are deemed vital for the health of my child (or ward). I understand that every effort will be made to contact me and that medical or surgical procedures will be implemented only in the event that I cannot be contacted immediately.

I give permission for my child (or ward) to participate in the Lycée Francais’ World camp program. I understand the nature of the programs in which he/she will be participating, and the inherent risks in participating in these programs. My child’s (ward’s) participation is purely voluntary.

I authorize my child or ward to participate in the neighborhood walks or outings organized during the Summer Camp program. I hereby waive any claim against the school or its authorities for any injury suffered by my child in connection with the walk or outing.

I understand that campers registered in LFC’s summer camp program participate in various field trips conducted in the city of Chicago or its vicinity. I understand that participation is optional, and I authorize my child/ward to participate in all field trip activities organized as part of this program. I can prevent my child to attend a field trip by not taking him/her to camp that day. Parents will receive prior to the event a detailed weekly schedule by e-mail that will include field trips locations.

I grant to Lycee Français (LFC) and all those acting with its authority the unrestricted right to use my children image(s) ("Image") and their audio voice recording(s) ("Audio") as captured during the camp activities in photographs, film tape, video, animated movies and art productions, or other medium ("Images") including the summer camp blog; to copy, modify, create derivatives and otherwise use an Image and/or Audio in any medium; and use and permit to be used their name, whether in original or modified form, in connection with the Images and/or Audio as LFC may choose. I waive all rights and release and discharge LFC from, and will neither sue nor bring any proceeding against LFC for, any claim, demand or cause of action, whether now known or unknown, for defamation, invasion of right to privacy, publicity or personality or any similar matter, based upon or relating to the use and exploitation of the Images and/or Audio.

LFC’s agreements with the providers of technology platforms for students require compliance with the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA.)

By registering your child for LFC World Camp, you are indicating consent for LFC to make use of these technology platforms in the delivery of programs and services to you and your child. You also understand and acknowledge that your child will use other online tools and resources it selects for individual courses and programs within the limits of FERPA, COPPA, other applicable laws, and LFC policies.

G Suite for Education: G Suite for Education is a suite of tools that allows students to access, store, and share files. All camp participants will be provided with a LFC educational domain Google account. Students will use this account to securely sign in to video meetings and all secured class materials. Camp participants may use the LFC Google account to access third party online platforms to create and post work. G Suite Privacy Policy

Zoom for Education: LFC utilizes Zoom video platform for synchronous class sessions, small group sessions, and one-on-one sessions. These sessions may be recorded. As a result, your child’s image, likeness, or voice may be recorded while he or she is participating in virtual camp. Use of the video camera in live class sessions is encouraged for students to have optimal feedback, but is not required. Zoom K-12 privacy policy
