Each camp is headed by a teacher or an educator selected for her/his professionalism, experience and creativity. Our team includes certified Lycee teachers and assistant teachers, teachers from other institutions as well as qualified camp counselors and educators who have gained experience working with children in our after-school or other programs.
Please do not hesitate to contact our school nurse at firstname.lastname@example.org with any health concerns such as allergies or others. We are available to meet in person should you want to discuss your child’s potential condition and needs directly with us.
Upon registration checkout, you will receive a confirmation email with a State of Illinois Certificate of child health examination. Please ask your child’s pediatrician to fill and sign this document, and return it before June 1st by email to email@example.com or by mail to: World Camp - Lycee Français de Chicago, 1929 W Wilson Avenue, Chicago, IL 60640. For Lycee parents: If you have already returned this certificate to the school, you do not have to do this again.
Emergency information form is filled online at the time of registration; No paper version is needed.
COVID POLICIES: We base our policies on recommendations from local authorities such as IDPH, ISBE and City of Chicago. We are currently not planning to require testing to attend camp. Masking is likely to not be mandatory, except in yellow buses on field trips and beach days. We reserve the right to make changes to these policies before the start of World Camp or during camp itself should recommendations change. On field trip days, we will respect the COVID policies of the places that we will visit.
No Field trip camps: No field trips will be offered to campers registered for Camp Bienvenue, our half-day camp for children ages 2-3, or for High-school French, a half-day academic program that will take place on campus. Campers registered for these morning camps will remain on campus.
Language immersion camps for ages 3-11: These students will walk to parks or sports facilities located in the neighborhood. They will also attend Field Trips on Tuesdays and Fridays. Tuesday field trips include a visit to the Hidden Creek Water Park every session, and a visit to a farm, a museum or a botanic garden the other two Tuesdays. Fridays are beach days with BBQ for all. Due to Juneteenth and the 4th of July, session 1 field trips will take place exceptionally on Wednesdays this year.
Investigative Learning camps (ages 11-15): These campers will participate in 4 to 5 field trips weekly, including the Tuesday and Friday field trips with all campers, and 2 to 3 half-day field trips on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in relation with the theme of their camp session.
Children enrolled in our program are expected to be polite, to show respect at all times to their fellow campers, counselors, and other camp or school personnel, and to respect the property of others and the school. Campers are not to leave the building on their own, and they are expected to be with their assigned camp groups at all times. The same etiquette and rules of politeness apply to potential online camps or activities. Lycée Français reserves the right to deny any camper the opportunity to participate in camp if the child social conduct or behavior is deemed unsatisfactory by the school administration.
